The Carling Weekend: Reading & Leeds Festivals have announced the headliners for this year - Franz Ferdinand (Reading Friday/Leeds Saturday), Muse (Reading Saturday/Leeds Sunday), and Pearl Jam (Reading Sunday/Leeds Friday).

Franz Ferdinand get to headline just three years after their performance in the Carling Tent at Reading & Leeds in 2003.

Muse established themselves as worthy headliners for any festival after closing Glastonbury in 2004 and with their new album due for release on 3rd July, this will be an early chance to hear them live.

Pearl Jam are a real coup for the festival. After nine fans died in a crowd crush while they played at Roskilde Festival in Denmark in 2000, they vowed to only ever play shows where they had full control of the set-up, to ensure the crowd weren't at risk - and this of course excludes festivals. Despite the good safety record of Reading and Leeds, it must have taken some serious persuasion from organisers Mean Fiddler to pull this off.

There'll be more bands announced in around an hour - at 7:15pm - and tickets also go on sale at that point. They're bound to sell out quickly, so have your credit cards at the ready!

Also das LineUp von Rock am Ring und die Nähe zu meinem neuen Wirkungskreis hätten mich fast dazu gebracht, eine Karte zu kaufen. Aber da irgendwie niemand anders Zeit hat und ich 130Euro reichlich unverschämt finde, lass ich das. Das sind immerhin 250 Mark!!!!
Die Ausrede: "Ja aber das Lineup ist wirklich hochkarätig" zieht nicht. Hochkarätig war das Lineup 1999 auch und da bin ich mir ziemlich sicher, dass ich da nur 130 D-Mark bezahlt hab; wenn überhaupt.

Bitte ? Höre ich da einen leicht aggressiven Unterton heraus ?

Nun, zu der Preisproblematik kann ich nur soviel sagen : Ich habe mir die Karte gekauft, weil ich sie mir wundersamer Weise dieses Jahr leisten konnte und da einige Hochkaräter dabei sind, deren Einzelkonzerte schon extrem teuer sind finde ich den Preis ok.
Man muss ja auch bedenken, dass nicht nur die Festivals teuer geworden sind, sondern auch die einzelnen Konzerte.

Zum Beispiel hier einige der Bands, die bei Rock im Park auftreten werden :

Tool in Hamburg : 39,15 Euro
Dredg in Hamburg : 23,25 Euro
Korn in Essen : 41,38 Euro (Frechheit!)
Depeche Mode in Leipzig : 62,50 Euro (HUI ! )
Metallica in Berlin : 63, 55 Euro
Placebo in Bielefeld : 38,90 Euro

Dredg und Placebo halten sich hierbei noch im bezahlbaren Bereich, jedoch ergibt die Summe der einzelnen Konzerte fast doppelt soviel wie das Rock im Park Ticket (die restlichen, dort auftretenden Bands nicht miteingerechnet, versteht sich).

Manch einer wird sagen, es ist nicht wichtig, ob man die einzelnen Konzerte addiert, da sie vll. das Festivalflair sowieso nicht gerne mögen, die Anreise zu weit ist, etc. pp. Für mich ist da allerdings durchaus ein Argument, das zeigt, dass ich mit einem Festivalticket immer noch billiger dran bin.
