Bob Geldof and 95.8 Capital FM announce the biggest gig in the world: Live 8.

After weeks of rumour and speculation, we can now confirm that twenty years on from Live Aid, some of the world's biggest stars are coming together to perform again with the aim of Making Poverty History and Capital will be broadcasting the whole thing.

Who's confirmed to play?
Mariah Carey, Coldplay, Dido, Keane, Elton John, Annie Lennox, Madonna, Paul McCartney, Muse, Razorlignt, REM, Scissor Sisters, Snoop Dogg, Sting, Joss Stone, Stereophonics, Robbie Williams and U2.
More artists to be annouced soon.

When is it?
Saturday 2nd July 2005

Where is it?
London's Hyde Park

How can I get a ticket?
Details are still to be confirmed but we understand that the concert will be
free and tickets will be allocated through a text lottery. The text number will be announced on Capital at 8am on Monday 6th June.

Texts will cost text £1.50 plus your usual network text charge and there will be no limit to the amount of times you can text. The text line will remain open for 7 days, and 75,000 pairs of tickets will be randomly chosen by computer.


Capital and Live 8
For the last eight years Capital has put on the biggest one day summer concert in Britain, Party in the Park, but this year Bob called Capital to
ask if he could borrow our Hyde Park stage to put on a massive event to support the Make Poverty History campaign.

On 2nd July, as the world's biggest music stars gather in London, Capital will be there to bring it to you.

As with Live Aid twenty years ago, there will be similtaneous concerts in
Berlin, Paris, Rome and Philadelphia.

Ich glaub, ich werd' zum Elch: Pink Floyd treten beim Live8 am 2. Juli in der Besetzung MIT Roger Waters auf !!!!!!!!!

Wenn das nicht in London, sondern irgendwo in Germany stattfinden würde, käme ich sicher auf dumme Gedanken und würde mir eine horrend teure Karte kaufen
Hoffentlich wird das wenigstens irgendwo im TV übertragen. Sowas muss festgehalten werden. Oh man, Pink Floyd - da werd ich noch ganz schwach. Die PULSE-Tour war optisch und akustisch ein absolutes Sahne-Bonbon. Dass die Herren von Pink Floyd keine Boy-Group-mäßigen Tanzeinlagen hingelegen, kann man gut verschmerzen. Alleine David Gilmour's Solo von "Comfortably numb" war das Eintrittsgeld wert. Und jetzt ist Roger Waters mit dabei - oh Shine On, You Crazy Diamond !!!!!!!!!

soweit ich weiß, gibt es doch gar keine eintrittskarten in dem sinne, sondern man kriegt die irgendwie über verlosung oder eine lotterie oder so (hab ich da grad WM-Assoziationen?)

Wie auch immer, London ist zu weit und passt auch von meinem Dienstplan her nicht...

ABER:

Nur frage ich mich, was ist mit denjenigen Fans, die intelligent genug sind und ihren Internetzugang nicht über diesen Dreckverein AOL haben? Sind die nun aussen vor?

Eben in den News: rbb-Fernsehen hat die Liveübertragungsrechte für das Berliner Live8 erworben und wird sowohl im TV als auch auf radioeins das ganze Konzert aus Berlin live übertragen. Mit kurzen Schaltungen zu den anderen Orten.

Das Konzert findet am Samstag, den 2. Juli ab 14 Uhr am Brandenburger Tor statt. Eintritt ist frei, wer zuerst kommt, kann sich den besten Platz aussuchen.
