Gerts einzige Reaktion dazu war, nachdem er das gelesen hat: Sehr akurat!

General meaning:
It’s about a person who wonders who he is. He just doubts everything he feels, thinks and talks about. He analyses his past und present. He asks himself what is important in life.
Interpretation of each part:
1. You look at yourself and see the essential of your existence. You observe yourself as if you would observe another person standing next to you.
“words on the chair”:
That means the influences from your environment during your whole life. It’s also about the changes in life and the memories that influence you in good or bad regard.
2. Being speechless. Not able to explain the feelings. Nobody will listen to the words that comes out of the mouth. So the mouth is locked. But you have to ask for help if you want or not (“dig it up”). It’s the recognition that you need other people in life; you can’t exist all by yourself.
3. You can’t hide who you are. There are always memories and experiences – you can’t run away from them. They are the reason why you are the way you are.
4. You can’t eliminate what you are. Sometimes experiences and memories are bad and you want to erase them from your heart. And sometimes you realize who you are and you feel scared about it. Maybe you wish to be the person you have been years ago.
If you have repressed memories etc. there’s a void that reminds you of the repression. You want to fill that void with new, good memories.
5. In these two lines there are different phases in a relationship. First you are insecure (“What will the other think if I’m doing this or that...?”; “Do you really think I’m the person you are looking for?”), then – at the end of a relationship – there’s a lot of indifference between the “lovers”.
And these impressions are all in your heart and head and they will never go away.
6. Through the mazes (= lies, chaos you did & had in your life) in your head you will get back to what you are. But you have to realize that you have grown the mazes and they will be a part of you until the end of the day. You made these mazes and there is no escape from what you have done.
